The matter concerns the working of the railway recruitment board and staff working under the department of railway, Government of India.

Here the matter concerning a student who after completing the intermediate level exam took admission in the ITI professional course as regular student and simultaneously took admission for graduate course as private student in distance learning mode.

Consequently he secured two degrees simultaneously as aforementioned.

Now student has secured job in the department of railway on the ground of his professional course ITI.

Central public information officer of the railway recruitment board may provide the following information to the applicant point wise as follows.

1-In the railway department the student can use his bachelor degree obtained as private through distance learning mode.

2-If the student cannot use his bachelor degree obtained through distance learning mode as private student , then provide the circular, office memo, government order issued by the department in this respect.

3-University grant commission is the great facilitator of higher education in this country. It allows the students to pursue two degree simultaneously if the times of the courses do not crash in physical mode.

In the light of aforementioned, department of railways will accept the degree of the student or not.

The University Grants Commission(UGC) on Friday asked all universities to make statutory changes in their structure facilitating students to pursue two academic degrees simultaneously in physical mode. UGC approved a proposal in April allowing students to pursue to academic degrees in physical mode simultaneously.

The University Grants Commission(UGC) on Friday asked all universities to make statutory changes in their structure facilitating students to pursue two academic degrees simultaneously in physical mode. UGC had approved a proposal in April allowing students to pursue two full-time degrees together.

UGC in a statement on Friday said, “All the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) were requested to devise mechanisms through its statutory bodies for allowing students to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously. It is once again requested that in the larger interest of the students, implementation of the said scheme may kindly be ensured and expedited, if not done so far,”

UGC has allowed students to pursue two full-time academic programmes in the same time frame given that class timing for both programmes do not clash with each other. Earlier, UGC had allowed students to pursue one regular and one distance course simultaneously but this development is significant because it now allows students to pursue two full-time degrees together.
